Footnotes

[...] for the interior design of the apartment, the “focus was to bring the outside city in, and push light towards him [Theodore].” The production even covered the existing upper daylight panels above the windows in an effort to concentrate the view into a band around Theodore, who would then become enveloped within this space and “wrapped by light.” ➡︎

[...] we found the building near Staples Center where they're starting to develop [and] his view looks north into Los Angeles. It's probably the densest look towards the mountains and we just got lucky. But the windows had a huge play in choosing that location. I definitely wanted the outside inside as much as possible, especially when you're with him. It's both a wonderful space and a lonely space at the same time. ➡︎

It’s a real apartment that had wonderful glass on two sides where you could really see a downtown, and that just helped opened his headspace. It was an open space, and we added walls, natural wood, and discrete lighting fixtures—when you get into the details of the apartment, there’s nothing that you couldn’t have right this second. In fact, there are a lot of retro things—a nice quilt on his bed that somebody handmade, furniture that somebody crafted a while back,  a computer monitor that has a nice wooden frame that’s more like a picture frame that you’d put a photo or a painting in rather than a plastic or steel manufactured element. So everything was tactile and nice, and we just decided that everybody lives in large apartments like that. ➡︎
